Walking tips
- Wear comfortable closed shoes and carry water. Nairobi sits at about 1,700 metres, so the sun is strong even when the air is cool.
- Carry a small amount of cash for market purchases and keep valuables out of sight.
- Ask before photographing people. Some government buildings do not allow photographs.
Pair it with a safari
Do the wildlife in the cool morning and the city in the afternoon. Take a half-day private game drive ($300 per group (your group only, park fees paid separately), hotel pickup), then walk the CBD. On a Saturday or Sunday, the weekend Land Cruiser game drive meets at Kencom in the CBD, from KSh 4,500 per person. For giraffes and elephants, see the park, Sheldrick and Giraffe Centre tour.

Quick answers
How much is a Nairobi city walking tour?
Each walk is priced on WhatsApp, because the price depends on group size, length and pickup. Entry tickets for sites such as the KICC rooftop or the National Archives are paid at each site.
How long is a Nairobi city walking tour?
Most guests choose about 2 to 3 hours in the CBD. Tell us how much time you have and we plan the route around it.
Is it safe to walk around Nairobi CBD?
Yes, with a local guide in daytime. Your guide chooses the streets, keeps the pace, and knows where to stop. Carry little cash and keep your phone in a front pocket, as in any big city.
Can I combine a city walk with a safari?
Yes. Do a morning game drive in Nairobi National Park, then walk the CBD in the afternoon, or add the walk after the weekend game drive, which meets at Kencom in the CBD.
