Nairobi National Park FAQ: safaris, fees, animals and planning

A private half-day is $300 per group (your group only, park fees paid separately) and a private full day is $380 per group, with hotel pickup. Per person, the weekend Land Cruiser drive is KSh 4,500 for residents or $55 for non-residents, and the weekday 3-in-1 tour starts at KSh 6,000 or $75.

No. Tour prices cover transport, the game drive and the guide. Each guest buys a KWS ticket: non-resident adult $80, African citizen $40, Kenya resident KSh 1,350, East African citizen KSh 1,000. See entry fees.

On KWSPay at kwspay.ecitizen.go.ke, by M-Pesa or card, before the drive. Do not plan on cash at the gate.

Yes. Hotel pickup is included on private tours and on the weekday tour from Westlands, Kilimani and the CBD. Weekend guests meet at Kencom or add hotel pickup for KSh 1,500 per booking.

Yes. Departures run daily, Monday to Sunday. Weekend seats and Land Cruisers are confirmed before booking.

You can look for lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino. There are no wild elephants in the park. The orphaned elephants are at the Sheldrick nursery, which is on our weekday tour. For wild herds, go to Amboseli.

Yes. On private tours children ride at no extra tour charge, because the price is per vehicle. KWS charges its own child fee. See with children.

Wild animals move, so no one can. Giraffe, zebra and buffalo are seen on most drives. Lion and rhino are the animals our guides search for hardest, and a morning start gives you the best chance.
