What to bring on a Nairobi National Park safari

Bring the ticket, the ID that matches it, neutral clothing, and a layer for the dawn roof. The rest is optional.

Pack for a roof hatch on open grass, not for a hiking day. Altitude is roughly 1,500 to 1,800 metres, so dawn is cooler than visitors expect.

Khaki, olive, brown, or muted green clothesBright white or neon if you want animals to ignore you
A fleece or light jacket at 06:00A large hard suitcase. The vehicle is for people, not airport freight. On a layover, ask us about bags first.
Closed shoes if you want the Hippo Pools walkSandals for that walk
Binoculars, sunscreen, a hat, sunglassesA spotlight or a powerful torch for a day drive
A rain shell in the wet monthsSpeaker, and anything you would hoot with. Hooting is prohibited.

Half-day guests rarely need more than a small bag. Full-day guests who picnic inside the park should add food they can eat without leaving a mess, and carry the rubbish out. KWS asks visitors to take their trash with them.

Children need the same ticket logic as adults. Tell us ages when you book. A child seat is not automatic. Ask, and we will say whether we have one before you pay.
